Can you strip old coatings and reseal slate floors?
Yes. Stripping failed acrylic and wax coatings is the most common part of slate restoration in Chicago. We use stone-safe strippers, agitation and extraction to remove every layer, let the floor dry fully, then apply a penetrating sealer or color enhancer that will not peel like the old topical finish.
Why does my slate floor look dull or powdery?
