Every week someone tells us a fabricator quoted them a new countertop for damage that could have been restored in an afternoon. Sometimes replacement really is the right call. Here is how to think it through. Restoration usually wins when… - The damage is on the surface. Dullness, scratches, etching, stains, water rings, worn sealer, and light chips are all surface problems. Restoration removes or fills them and returns the original finish. - You like the stone. If the color and pattern still work with the kitchen, keeping it is the obvious choice. - The layout is staying. Restoration keeps your sink cut-out, faucet holes, cooktop opening and backsplash exactly where they are. - You want it done this week. Restoration is typically a single visit.
