When to choose stone polishing
Polishing refines the stone finish to restore shine. Cleaning removes residue; honing addresses surface wear and etching before a finish is selected. Repairs and sealing are separate needs, assessed from your photos rather than assumed to be part of every polishing job.

Schaumburg · Marble · Floor Polishing

Restored an intricate geometric-pattern marble floor in a Schaumburg foyer. Each marble section was individually diamond-honed to remove years of foot traffic wear and scratches. We color-matched grout lines and performed deep grout cleaning to restore the original contrast. Final polish brought out the natural veining in each marble piece. Sealed with impregnating sealer for long-term protection.

Glencoe · Marble · Shower Restoration

Complete marble shower restoration including built-in bench and dual niches in this Glencoe estate. All grout lines were deep cleaned with vapor steam and re-sealed with epoxy-fortified grout sealer. Basketweave floor mosaic was carefully cleaned and polished. Caulking at all transitions—bench-to-wall, floor-to-wall, and glass door frame—was professionally replaced. Full impregnating sealer application locks out moisture and prevents the soap scum buildup common with Chicago hard water.

Stone Polishing questions
What types of stone can you polish?
We polish all natural stones: marble, granite, travertine, limestone, terrazzo, concrete, onyx, quartzite, and more. Each stone requires different techniques and equipment—we have them all.
How long does stone polishing last?
A professional polish typically lasts 2-5 years depending on traffic and maintenance. Countertops in busy kitchens may need touch-ups sooner. We offer maintenance programs to keep your stone looking its best.
Can you polish stone without making it slippery?
Yes! We offer different finish levels from soft honed (matte, more traction) to high-gloss polished. For floors, we can achieve a beautiful sheen while maintaining safe traction.
Is polishing different from cleaning?
Absolutely. Cleaning removes surface dirt. Polishing uses diamond abrasives to physically smooth and refine the stone surface, creating a deep shine that no amount of cleaning can achieve.
