Can a chipped granite or marble countertop be repaired?
Yes. Most edge, corner and sink chips are repaired in place with a color-matched resin that is shaped to the original edge and polished to match the stone. You do not need to replace the slab. Send us photos of the chip and we will confirm the repair and quote it.
Can a cracked stone countertop be fixed without replacing it?
In most cases, yes. A crack that has not separated or shifted can be stabilized, filled with a color-matched structural resin and finished flush with the stone. If the slab has moved or lost support underneath, we will tell you honestly. Send us photos and we will quote the repair.
When should countertop caulking be replaced?
Replace it when the caulk is dark or moldy, cracked, shrinking, peeling or pulling away from the stone or sink. Those gaps let water reach the cabinet and wall behind it. We remove the old caulk completely and apply a new stone-safe bead. Send us photos for a quote.
What does honing a marble countertop do?
Honing removes a thin layer of the surface with diamond abrasives and water. It takes out etch marks from lemon, wine and cleaners, light scratches and worn spots, and leaves an even matte or satin finish. It can be the final finish or the step before polishing. Send us photos for a quote.
Can a dull granite or marble countertop be polished back to a shine?
Yes. Dullness is usually surface wear, etching or film. We remove it by honing, then polish with progressively finer diamonds and stone-specific compounds to bring the whole countertop back to an even shine. Natural stone takes a polish; engineered quartz does not repolish the same way. Send us photos for a quote.
How do I know if my stone countertop needs sealing?
Put a few drops of water on the countertop and wait a few minutes. If the stone darkens, the water is soaking in and the countertop needs sealing. If it beads up, the sealer is still working. Sealing helps prevent stains but does not stop etching on marble. Send us photos for a quote.
