When to choose stone sealing
Sealing slows liquid absorption in suitable porous stone. It does not remove scratches, repair cracks, restore a dull finish or prevent acid etching. The stone, existing finish and condition determine whether sealing is appropriate.

Glencoe Slate Sunroom Floor Deep Clean
Glencoe · Slate · Deep Cleaning

This Glencoe sunroom featured a gorgeous diagonal-laid slate floor that had become dull and grimy from years of foot traffic and sun exposure. The natural earth tones of the slate were hidden beneath layers of old sealer and embedded dirt. Our team performed a thorough strip-and-clean process, removing all old coatings and deep-cleaning the textured surface. After the slate dried, we applied a color-enhancing sealer that brought out the warm browns, greens, and coppers of the natural stone. The decorative border detail was also carefully restored to its original crisp appearance.

Schaumburg · Marble · Floor Polishing

Restored an intricate geometric-pattern marble floor in a Schaumburg foyer. Each marble section was individually diamond-honed to remove years of foot traffic wear and scratches. We color-matched grout lines and performed deep grout cleaning to restore the original contrast. Final polish brought out the natural veining in each marble piece. Sealed with impregnating sealer for long-term protection.

Natural stone is porous—without proper sealing, it absorbs liquids, stains, and moisture that cause permanent damage. Professional sealing creates an invisible barrier that protects your stone while preserving its natural beauty.

Stone Sealing questions
Do you clean the stone before sealing it?
Yes. Sealer only works on clean stone, so every job starts with a deep clean. We offer marble cleaning and sealing, travertine cleaning and sealing, granite cleaning and sealing, and limestone, slate and quartzite cleaning and sealing for floors, showers, vanities and countertops. Text photos for a quote.
Can I get a deep clean and seal quoted separately from honing?
Yes. Cleaning and sealing is quoted separately from honing, which removes etch spots and wear, so you can compare the options. Pets and daily use often leave etching and discolored grout. Photos of the worst areas let us quote each option.
How often should stone be sealed?
It depends on the stone type and location. Kitchen countertops: every 1-2 years. Shower stone: annually. Light-traffic floors: every 2-3 years. We'll test your stone and give honest recommendations.
Will sealer change how my stone looks?
No—we use impregnating sealers that absorb into the stone without changing its appearance. If you want enhanced color, we also offer color-enhancing sealers as an option.
Can I seal stone myself?
While DIY sealers exist, professional application ensures even coverage and proper product selection for your specific stone. Wrong sealer choice can cause clouding or poor protection.
Does sealed stone still need cleaning?
Yes—sealer protects against staining but stone still needs regular cleaning with pH-neutral products. We'll recommend the right products for your stone type.
